A bookmarklet is a small piece of code (always JavaScript) that you can copy and save in your browser's bookmarks. When clicked, the bookmarklet starts an action on your active browser tab. Examples of bookmarklets include making the page go dark mode, changing colours or fonts of the website, or cool visual effects like spinning text. Bookmarklets were really popular in the early days of web computing, but have declined in popularity. However, they (if gathered from safe sources) still work very well and are less memory intensive (and less 'steal your privacy') than browser extensions generally.
The bookmarklets featured here allow you to add an Oneko to the webpage you're on. The cat moves just like the ones you can find on websites. Refreshing the page causes the cat to disappear, requiring reclicking of the bookmarklet. Fun fact: I often use these bookmarklets when I am working - they are totally tested and totally safe. To use the below bookmarklets, use your left mouse button to drag and drop the bookmarklet linked in the bookmarklet name of your choice below into the browser links bar or bookmarks folder.
